Donnie Bentley, TN State License # #183
Septic Dye Test; Inspection Scope
A dye test was performed at this property to assess the septic system's functionality. During the test, 5 grams of fluorescent dye were introduced into the septic system, followed by approximately 150 gallons of water. This process was completed within an approximate 30-minute time frame.
Limitations & Exclusions
After the dye and water were flushed into the system, the surrounding ground was thoroughly examined for any presence of the dye. If evidence of the dye was found on site, indicating that the system would not pass a minimal performance test.
It is important to note that this test is not a comprehensive evaluation involving excavation; rather, it is a use and function screening test commonly utilized by certain county agencies to assess basic system performance.
Limitations of Test Results
The outcome of this dye test does not serve as a guarantee, warranty, or representation regarding the future operation or performance of the septic system. Additionally, it does not indicate the presence or absence of any defects in the system before, during, or after the test period.
Septic System Maintenance Recommendations
All septic tanks require periodic pumping, with the recommended frequency ranging from yearly to every three years, depending on system usage. The inspector strongly advises all septic system owners to perform regular maintenance and to follow the health department's guidelines to ensure proper system function.
